April 30th- News Letter

Parents and Students,

As the end of the year is quickly approaching, we have A LOT of stuff going on!! I know that this is a bit of a crazy time for everyone. Therefore, I will not be sending home homework assignments or spelling words for the remainder of the year.  (I know the kiddos will be so upset J) However, I still encourage you to review your child’s work and discuss what we are learning in class.

Important reminders:

·         Please send in permission slips for our field trip to Chaney’s as soon as possible (deadline is Wednesday)

·         Library books need to be turned in by May 18^th.

·         All lunch balances should be paid in full before the last day of school.

Mark your calendars:

·         May 1^st- HES PTO night at Zaxby’s

·         May 7th- Talent show tryouts (K-2^nd) at 2:30- Students will need a note to stay after school.

·         May 15^th- Field trip to Chaney’s (if weather permits)

·         May 21^st- Talent Show

·         May 22^nd- No School- Election Day

·         May 23^rd- Field Day

·         May 24^th- Kindergarten Graduation at 8:15

Also, (if we can get it together in time) I would like to have our students to do a class performance in the talent show. I need ideas from some of our creative parents!! Also, would anyone be able to volunteer or help with costumes? Let me know what you think!

Math Time!!

We week we will finish up even and odd numbers (asked them to show you their song.. it’s cute). We will also start a unit on telling time.

Reading

·         This week we will discuss derby week!! Each day, we will pair up with a first grade class to create derby crafts and activities. On Friday, we will have a stick horse race and draw horses for the derby race.

Your children will become what you are.. so be what you want them to be J
